What does this mean...
Well this is what I got [verymad]
What am I in for? http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...0303/leaky.jpg |
What am I looking at? One of your delivery valve holder whatever they're called looks different...?
Can you get that pic in focus? ;) EDIT: I think I get it...is that fuel leaking? Broken line? |
yea its fuel...
what needs to be replaced? |
I agree, what are we looking at here?
Is is your no. 2 injector line leaking? If so, just tighten it up, my lines were leaking too. It takes a 19mm wrench, or if you want to be proper use a flair-nut crow-foot wrench and tighten to 18ft-lbs, that's the specified torque from Cummins. OK, if the fuel is coming from between the hold down nut and the line, then just tighten it up. If the line is cracked, or damaged, then replace it ASAP, these lines are under very high pressure, which can injure, they can't be repaired, you'll need a new one. |
I see it... it took me a second. I can see the little waterfall of fuel coming out of the line on the second injector. Do what DL said, but not too much...it's easy to go over 18 ft lbs, even with a well calibrated hand.

Yes no.2 is wet and leaking alot of diesel all over it...
ill have to head to a friends and get out the torque wrench w/ crows foot. |
I cranked the engine, tightened the nut a hair while idling at operating temperature, just enough to prevent the leak - same #2 line on my '96.
|
is it just the regular; left loose / right tight deal ???
just making sure. |
Yep. Sure is.
|
thanks for the info.

If you snug it up and it still leak. Remove the line, sand the taper with some emery cloth, blow the line out with compressed air. It should seal up....however sometimes they crack or get a really bad groove wore in.....good luck
