Water in fuel light stuck on?
Water in fuel light stuck on?
Well today i was bored
so i went out to change out the valve cover gaskets and the o rings on the screws on the truck. being that this has been an issue for a long time on my truck, it has been past due for a little while now. I went to a car wash to wash out the engine completely and degrease it as best as i could before attempting to change out the gaskets and when i left the carwash, i saw that my water in fuel light came on. I figured ok, ill bleed the filter out as best as i could to get the water out of the fuel..
Well i changed out my gaskets and then did as i said i would, and after bleeding about 2 gallons or so of diesel out of the truck, i still see that the little light is on..
as a side note i did not wash the engine at high pressure and degreased it gently... so i dont know how i got water in the fuel. I have used the same walmart station for almost one year now and have never had the issues of water in fuel before.
What do i need to do to eliminate this? im certain that the problem lies somewhere in teh filter, need i remove it and put clean fuel in it? or what do i need to farther do?
I also took out the actual water in fuel sensor. and i noticed it had mositure in it as well so i cleaned it out..
two hours later i still have water in fuel.. The truck idle and runs great, it dont miss or anything, is it possible the sensor is stuck? guys.. i need help, i dont wanna see that sucker on without reason...
thanks in advance...

Hey TX that is normal thing. Once you are positive that you dont have any water in the fuel just unplug the sensor for a few days. I had the same thing happen to mine about 2 weeks ago. It is caused by getting moisture in the wiring connector.
hmmm
Robert, its what i did pretty much, i went out and unplugged the sensor completely and saw that the truck would fire up anyways, and i decided to leave it unplugged. I also saw that the WIF light was off, so i figured that it wasnt a big issue.. thanks for responding tho.. I shall plug this thing again later on this week...
