water in fuel light on

water in fuel light on

i cleaned the engine and used as little water as possible but the engine really needed some cleaning. but now i have the water in fuel light on. i drained it already and unpluged the batteries after that, but i still have that light on. any ideas? the truck runs fine its just the light won't go off. any ideas?

Just have to wait for the wiring to dry off, give it a little while.

mine did the same thing after a good hosing off at the car wash once. I just gave it a little while for it to dry off and the light went right out.

Pull the connector to the WIF sensor apart and dab some dielectric grease on it for a long lasting fix.

Once it dries out and the light goes off spray the harness and plug with ignition line sealer. I had to do that with mine. Water shorts out the pins on the connector.

now almost a week later the light finally went off. that took a looooong time.

Yup, that sounds about right for it. Makes sense really though. The water came in under pressure and could ever so slowly dry out.
