Why not just buy a 12v? I would imagine that by the time you have everything you need plus your investment in your truck, you could have easily bought a 12v truck and spared yourself all the headache. Just my opinion though.

Why buy another truck??? he can do this swap for 3k if he shops around. He could put it together in a weekend if he has all the parts engine, rad, cooler, piping, boots, underhood harness, proper accesories, pcm and engine mounting hardware. Its really not alot of work.

fuel tank and fuel management system is different, wiring is different, intake and exhaust are different.

Find a wrecked truck and start swapping.[coffee]

Im pretty sure the tanks are the same, filler necks are different.Use the stock fuel lines....lift pump's already on the engine, intake and exhaust flavor of his choice. Sell off everything left over[guitar]

I am saying if you can do this for 3000.00 in a week end you must have superman helping you. I have done many conversions even though they have been on fords and chevys it will still cost more than 3000.00 My guess is no less the 4000.00 and easily 5000.00

You may be right......where do you think the money is going to go. Superman helping ...no just my dad....he's pushing 80 so I wouldnt call him superman,he too crabby to be superman anyway. How much labor do you think should be involved in removing a front clip, removing a engine, reinstalling another engine, reinstalling front clip if everything you need to do on the job is pretty much bolt on, and your project is well researched in advanced. What do you consider a full days work??? Im just wondering incase I ever need to take on something this.

I bought the parts truck for my Excursion for $2200.00. It had 120k. It took me a long time to put the 5.9 into the Excursion because almost nothing works without some modification. I think putting a 5.9 into a Dodge would be relatively easy.

The trans is the same inside and out and has the same bell. Should be able to buy all the parts and bolt the 12 valve in. You should be able to do it for $2500- $3000 at the most including the 12Valve with the prices they want at the junk yard around here. I would do it.

That's probably WHY he's pusing 80 and still removing/re-installing engines into veichles! All of us younger not doing this sort of thing regurally (myself included) are the ones who likely become unhealthy later in life.

As to the swap - it can be done, and as others have said it's probably not too hard. I guess what's wrong with the V-10? I understand there's quite a following to these engines as well, perhaps it would be worth researching how much you could sell it for and pick up a different unit with the Cummins already in there. Just my $.02 good luck!
