Unique KDP bite

Long story short, just got my ol truck back after my brother having it for years. Noticed A LOT of oil caked on the front of the engine and while I was looking to see if it was the front main leaking, I noticed a nice little hole in the timing case cover. The KDP shot through the cover with no damage to the case or gears. What are the chances?! Anyways, do yal know where I can get just the cover?

Holy CRAP !

Never seen anything like that before... After I blew it up on my screen, I thought I'd post it for posterity.....

AMAZING....

Ask Oliver Foster in the 1st Gen section. He might have one.

If I were you I would go ahead and install a good used cover. You've already got the hard part out of the way and taking the cover off will allow you to closely inspect the gears for damage and check the torque of all the timing case bolts. Plus you should reinstall a new dowel pin/retainer to ensure the timing case doesn't migrate and let the gear lash get off. Giving the area a wash first will definitely make it more pleasant to work on.

Yea, a used cover should be cheap, enough of the cases have been killed that there should be a glut of them.

In my perverse world though, I would clean the cover, tap it back in place, and MIG her shut, I like to be able to point out all her boo-boos........
