TV Cabel

Is it located below the front band adjustment on the tranny?

If this is the TV cabel how do I adjust it?

How do I tell if I need to replace it?

With the peddle to the floor you should have no more than 1/8" play on the lever where the tv cable connects on the trans. Now to adjust push in the button located under the hood right next to the throttle cable on the p-pump and adjust as necessary. Dont a search for tv adjustment. There is some good pics on here somewhere. Also I recommend replacing the tv cable ever 3-4 years. I just replaced mine few months ago. Just my .02

Thanks for the info I will do the search. I have had the truck for 8 years and never replaced it. Might be time.

I've never found a TV cable that's needed adjusting unless someone messed with it or the tranny or engine has been removed.
It's not something that gets out of adjustment by itself.
Don't be surprised if the adjustment is fine.

Check the attachment to the tranny tho- it is a "dog leg" shaped lever on the drivers side above the pan lip - the pivot is exposed to road grime and will bind causing most the TV to stick forward delaying shifts and making them hard (increased line pressure).
Penetrating oil and white lithium grease regularly.

I checked the TV cabel at the tranny and it was fine. I did find that my throttle cable was really stretched out. I did a temperary fix and the tranny shifts a lot better. I will be getting a new throttle cable soon.
