Turbo housing eating away?

i have a 1997 completly stock 12V and its got about 110,000 miles on it. the turbo bearings got worn out and the fan blades wobbeld and "eat" little groves in the housing.I a almost sure this was caused by grit gettin through the air box because you can see groves in the tube goin to the turbo.
My question is do i need to worry to much about my motor, i am looking to replace the turbo of course but am i gonna need to rebuild my motor anytime soon.
second question is what do i need to look for on my air box to get it to seal up so i don't have this problem anymore

any suggestions on a turbo/intake/downpipe/injector setup...... i work construction so i am in dust alot in the summer so anything i put on it would have to filter all this out.

sorry its my first post in here just starting to learn this truck

Thank you in advance

Mine is doing the same thing... to be guiltily honest it has barely touched for quite a while, but I don't drive it much anymore... but it did it before I took my head off, and there was no evidence of any damage inside the cylinders so you will be ok. As far as intake options, you could do a BHAF, do a search and get all the info you can handle, or you could do an AFE setup or something similar. The stock airbox has apparently been known to not seal sometimes. If it were me I would do a BHAF with an outerwears filter over it. This will increase the life of the filter in the dusty conditions.

Because of this I always recommend people follow K&N's instructions even when using a stock filter--
Run a bead of silicone grease around the lip of the filter before closing the lid.

If your turbo blades are starting to rub the housing, which it sounds like they are, I would get it rebuilt or a new turbo really soon. If you go too long you can shatter the wheel and then it'll go through your intercooler and that'll have to come out to be cleaned or have to get a new one. A new intercooler is about the price of a turbo rebuild. Your engine will be fine if you get the turbo rebuilt soon.
