turbo cool down? air filter?

First, I have not installed any gauges yet. I have read, make sure the turbo cools down b-4 shut off. So if driving 30 miles around town, does the turbo need to cool down. or driving 300miles on the interstate, does the turbo need to cool down? and without gauges, is this a matter of idling in N for 1 minute, 5 minutes?
Second, replaced the air filter with a AFE drop in stock replacement. The filter I took out has a foam prefilter. Should the AFE use one too? it did not come with one
Thanks, Ken

If you are driving empty it is probably not hot enough to need a cool down period, with a pyro you will know for sure.

I always find that if drive easy for the last block or two before stopping the temps are fine to shut down right away.

Unloaded easy driving

i still would let it cool for a minute or two before shuttin it off, but nah it shouldnt... if ur easy on it. Should you tow with it or run it hard for a while then i would say extend the time frame for turbo cool off, i do at least 2 mins with mine anywhere i go, But i have pyro and i suggest taht and the boost as only gauges that you would need for ur ram..

Air filter i cannot help u with sorry, i just run a baldwin, did away with my K&N,

Welcome to DTR as well!

Best
