That's an ok idea, just don't dare let them do an R&R until they can absatootly posalootly tell you what's wrong. In spring I worked on a truck (99 gasser) where two repair shops told him the trans was completely toast. I read the codes, replaced the VSS with a used one I had laying around and he drove that toasted sucker all summer and it's still going!

The guy that's gonna look at it is one of my dads friends. He own a transmission shop. I'm gonna just have him replace any thing that's wrong with it. It should be something simple... I hope.

Well so far the shop has replaced the tps and that wasn't the problem. Now he found a bunch of stuff in the pan and he is gonna rebuild the governer pressure solenoid.

FWIW, I always replace both the Governor solenoid and the Governor pressure transducer at the same time, both aren't much more than a hundred bucks and I found it was not worth pulling the thing back apart when the other failed shortly thereafter.

He said that he is gonna rebuild the solenoid. I'm just ready for it to be out of the shop. I don't really care what he does at this point. I've only drove the truck for like 20 minutes all together. Soon I'm gonna have him go through it and build it up a little bit. I'm gonna wait until summer before I do that though.

It ended up being rebuilt again. He replaced the tps and that didnt fix it. Then pulled the pan and it was full of junk. So he cleaned it and ran fresh fuild through it, drove it down the road and pulled the pan again and it had more junk in there. So he decided to rebuild it.
