Get an ultra low stall converter to fix that. With my machined low stall converter I'm making 15lbs boost at 2000rpm - not locked. With the old "low" stall converter it would make maybe 8lbs at 2000rpm. Based on the boost pressures you can see the difference in how hard it's pulling now. Pulls way harder and doesn't try to do a brake stand when in gear at idle like a lot of people say.... I guess these guys build and efficient converter.
Oh, by the way, those pressures are running empty. Still haven't had a trailer on since the modified converter went in. Truck drives like a 7,000lb sports car now lol Hit the skinny peddle and she just lights 'em up!

My 95 12 valve di have a hang in gear issue , but now it does not . two things made it better, one was the 3000 rpm gs and the other was the single disk billet TC.This trans has 278000 klm on it now and still shifts firm .The trans has had a fluid change every 50,000 klm since new and I think that makes a big difference in how long they last. For a 7000 lb truck it will go but the towing of my fiver is the reason I own it. 12 Valves are tops for me. If Goerend is willing to send a good instruction manual along with the parts, that could be a really fun way to learn and save yourself some money. Thanks for letting me know that was an option.

Im in the exact same boat, old 1995 with a recently rebuilt 47RH but they used the stock converter I baby the thing and dump the fluid every 20k, here is a Video of a 5% hill with bed full of firewood, heck the P7100 was defueling before its upshift and when the converter locks I must let off the throttle or it will slip- check 1:30 as I was able to slip the conveter on flat ground.

I to am on a extreme budget and I was thinking about a ATS tripple lock custom 1500RPM or 1400RPM stall and one of these kits to firm up the 2-3 and 3-4 shifts- Good or bad idea?

Personally I wouldn't go with the tripple disk unless you're making a ton of power. Buying an ATS Tripple Disk is like using a 1-ton dually to haul around a bag of potato chips - it really isn't necessary and the cost (to me) is outrageous for what you get. Deffinitely get a billet ultra low stall though.
As for the valvebody kit - I don't know much yet about how the valvebody works, so I did buy an ATS valve body. After the core it was just under $500 and it's flawless. Got mine from user treasurevalleydiesel on eBay.
Just a suggestion Joe...

I installed a TCS single disk billet 500 hp 1000 torque with a 1600 stall .I`am very happy with the TC . When towing I back off some on the throttle when the trans locks up and it pulls great. I never have the trans temps I had towing before . I have seen the temps go down to 150 deg towing my fiver now. I think a triple disk is over kill for the power I`am running and a waste of $$$. The single is just what I needed. My .02

I have the same set up as 9812vram, fuel plate and boost elbow. Will do the gsk asap, so TCS single disk is good? how hard is it to put a 48re pump in my 47rh?

48re pump is a direct bolt in. Here's the catch: The 47re torque converter hub won't fit the 48re pump due to a seal changeup. Make sure your new converter has the 48re hub. A lot of the TQ builders have been using a 48re hub as standard because it will fit both pumps, but I'd make sure before I'd buy.

thanks for the name - I will keep it in mind. I decided to take it to a local transmission shop and get it "diagnosed". They thought everything was good and for whatever reason, the shaking wouldn't happen (of course). They put it on the computer and drove with me (I drove it as well) and monitored lock-up and performance.

Again - no real issues found so I did a service with them and it seems to be running good for now. I still think the TC may be the weak point but can't justify getting one till I know this one is really bad. I will keep the numbe and really appreciate EVERYONES posts and suggestions.

Now onto the steering wander problem....
