Transmission Temp Sensor Issue

Hi all, First would like to say I really enjoy the forum and the great folks with unlimited knowledge.

I will start by saying I think auto transmissions should be illegal in HD trucks. If I only had a stick my old beast would never die.

The question: I need to trick my computer to override the trans temp sensor. I am almost positive my computer went the way of the Hal 1000. My idea is to install a resistor in place of the sensor itself. A while back I replace the sensor and all it did was activate temp light when the truck was cold - no transmission lock out. I took the old sensor, taped it up out of the way, plugged it in and it works great. The only issue is winter when it it too cold and won't let the tranny shift into L/O. So I clamped it to the trans. cooling line and it worked.

I need a resister to trick the system. I do know the fluid needs to warm up before going into L/O. Does anyone know what the resistance is that I need? Any help would be great. Thanks, Gus W.[guitar]

1000 ohm resistor works on 1st gens. Don't know if 2nd gen is the same. wattage doesn't really mater much .1/2 watt is good. Use some grease to protect from corrosion. Then tape it up good.
Try that, then let us know if it"s correct.
