Transmission rebuild
Transmission rebuild
Going to buy Suncoast overhaul kit *everything soft* it adds to both the od clutch plates and 3 to 4th plates, new band, dual seal servo ect ect. Will use a ATS five star torque converter and electrical command center they sell for picking lockup condition also will get their valve body kit al in all probably 2700.00 should I invest in a billet input shaft? What amount of torque makes these fail as I plan on putting in injectors and already have number 10 plate. Any advice would be good. Rebuild will be done by me. Thanks in advance.

outputs are generally what gets hammered doing stall launches because there is 2-3 times more torque at the output than the input. They, however are solid whereas the inputs are hollow. I have broken both doing stall launches before I learned my lessons quite a while ago. Shear power is hard on inputs...if you're planning anything over about 400, I wouldn't bat an eye at an input upgrade. BUT, even if you upgrade the input, you will break an output stall launching too much. But they don't do damage to the trans and are easy enough to R&R without removing the trans. They always break at the output inner bearing where the splines begin due to a step down in shaft diameter.

Good news though saves me over 500.00!!
MORE! And you hit the nail on the head I was worried about the shaft breaking and ruining a 1300. dollar torque converter.
