Transmission fit
 

Since our Dodge Trucks don't have the trans. we need, does anyone know of anyone who adapted an early 70'3 trans. to a 90's or later Dodge? The reason i'm asking is when I came home from the military I ordered a new GTX Plymouth and was told to get an auto so it would be under warranty. They would not warranty a manual trans. in the HP engine cars. Yeh, most of you will have to ask their Dad's about thia.:confused:

That's just a primitive version of your 47\48RX trans - 3spd, no lockup, no overdrive, won't handle the low-rpm torque output of the 5.9 CTD - several websites offer instructions on replacing that with the later 46RX trans to get the overdrive and lockup convertor - the 46RX is the latest V8 version of that old trans - the 47\48RX is the supersized versions of the 46RX

BTW - that trans should fetch a pretty penny on ebay from a restorer, prolly enuff to do something really good to the one in your truck - I have a switch-pitch Super-turbine T400 from a '65 Buick Wildcat with ~65k original miles on it - lost interest in the project, so gonna see what it'll fetch, here in the near future.
