Transfer cases

Do all dodge diesels use the same transfercases. I need one that will work for a passenger side diff and on an NV4500. I believe the 94 and up trucks have the front diff on the drivers side. Are they the same transfer case but rotated or is there a difference? I know nothing about 4x4. It would be for a 1 ton chev 4x4 with a dana 60 front. I am planing on giving it cummins power and converting my 2wd NV from my dodge. Any help would be great, thanks.

You need a NP 205 from a 89'-93' 4x4 5spd dodge. It will have the pass side drop like you need all the 94-up have a driver side drop (NP241 94-02) (NP271 03-08) totally diff T-case. They don't come any stronger than the NP205. If you get one from a 5spd truck just remove the rear seal out of the 4500 4x4 tail housing and it will bolt right up. Then just build a shifter bracket like mine. If you us 1st gen parts on the bell (modified getrag bell housing or Advanced Adapters) you can use the hydraulic system from a 1st gen like yours and find the hydraulic master from a 85-87 Chevy 4spd truck ,some had the same system and can be used with no mods to the peddles or fire wall. If not its easy to make a bracket to fit the stock dodge master. You are building the truck I have wanted to build for years.

Thanks, is there a difference between the the transfer cases on the getrags and auto's? Will the ones in the chevy's work, with some parts? I have decided to go NV4500 over Allison just because of the costs by the way.

You have to do some machine work on the input bearing retainer and case on the chevy and auto 205 to fit the larger 29-spline input vs. the 23-spline in the auto. Its a lot of work and finding parts ( not worth it) even if you have to pay $500 for the right t-case its worth it.

No prob with the Allison, its not for every one and it is kinda pricey.
