Transfer case splines-I can't count!

A couple of weeks ago I replaced the aluminum tail housing of my NV4500 with a cast iron version. I was leaking tranny fluid and the only thing I could think of was a cracked housing. The cast iron version is cheap enough, etc.
It had been a few years since I had pulled my gear splitter off the back of my transfer case and I had a brain fart and tried to remove tail section off of the transfer case without removing the circlip.
Well, I broke the oil pump for the transfer case as well as bending the pickup tube.
Luckily I had my old NP241 DLD case sitting on the shelf and pulled it apart and stole the pump and tube from it. It went into my newer NP241 DHD case, no problem.
Everything is back together and working fine (so far).
Now I want to put the DLD back together before I forget how it came apart (again) but I need a new pump.
There are a number of places selling the pump but they all say they are either a 31 or 32 spline count. In looking at the old pump I count 38 splines. I have a problem concentrating so I had two other people count as well, they both came up with 38 splines.
Am I counting wrong? This is the output shaft from both a NP242 DLD and DHD transfer case.
Also, where can I buy the pickup tube?
Thanks in advance.

This is a list from drivetrain.com. they also list a 32 spline for a 94 model.

The pump runs on different splines of the output shaft than the actual "output" splines.
They are asking you for the number of "output" splines because those splines would be the easiest for a person to count, and/or because that is how an output shaft is "referred to by".
