Tranny question...

My '96 cummins with 47re and 3.50 gearing kicks into O/D at just under 80kph (50mph) and it bogs down like crazy and the pedal feels very dead until it starts building some boost. I've been leaving O/D off until about 90kph (56mph) and clicking the button off and it will get up to speed much easier, but I hate how the TC kicks off, shifts and kicks on again during this procedure. Does anyone else notice have this problem as well?

Also wanted to ask some experts some simple things I can do to the 47re to make it last. Torque converter? valve body? I wanna give this thing some more fuel soon, it feels very laggy.

Hey guys, doesnt this Sound like his AFC is limiting fuel after the TQ lockup?
My 1995 47RH locks at 45mph with zero bog, I actually have to take my foot off the thorttle on wet pavement :D

As for keeping your trans alive, all i did was throw in a new Goerend 900/400 conveter+valve body and then adjusted the bands and Im running without a fuel plate, has boost elbow and injectors with star wheel cranked 2 turns.

Ya it really bogs this truck down at 80kph and getting to 90kph is like pulling teeth, after that it gets going good, I had just read the TPS adjustment right after I posted this, I will give that a go when I get home from working away.

That was another question I was gonna ask....I wanted to know what fuel plate kit to get for this truck, I want more power of course but don't wanna kill the drivetrain just yet. I was thinking a #11 (210hp 550tq) or #10 (220hp 570tq) fuel plate or should I go more without worrying?

" the peddle feels very dead ", suggests that you might also check to make sure that the fuel shutoff solenoid is opening ALL the way. turn on the key (without starting the engine), then tie the shutoff lever all the way open with some wire. Start it up and then test drive.
The shutoff solenoid is at the rear of the IP, mounted verticaly, right next to the air fuel control.
Mine seemed like it had about half power and the pedal felt like I was pushing against a spring at part throttle. Tying it open fixed the problem so I replaced the $200 solenoid with a manual controlled choke cable.
