Throw out bearing noise
Last week I finished putting a short block 12 valve into my sons 94 1 ton. Engine started up fine, ran down the road and when I got back noticed a noise from the rear of the engine by the clutch housing. I put in a new throw out bearing when I did the engine but not pilot bearing pressure plate or clutch disc. Over the weekend I pulled the transmission thinking it was the fingers on the pressure plate rubbing on the throw out bearing. Bought a clutch kit and changed every thing. When I pulled the trans the fingers on the pressure plate were not all even so I thought that was it. When we got it back together I have the same noise. You can start the engine and pull the slave cylinder out, and the bearing backs off the fingers and noise stops. Put your finger through the hole and push the fork up the bearing starts the noise again.
Does anyone have any ideas on what the cause to this problem is? Can the master cylinder be bad? Besides the noise the clutch works great.
