I have a 1997 Dodge 3500 cummins turbo diesel 4X4 5spd manual with 133000 on it. Recently under a pull uphill, or under hard acceleration in any gear, it will suddenly lose power and began to smoke. If you let off of it after a few seconds it will pick up and go on if you don't push it to hard. The truck idles great. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

 

waste gate problem. it sounds like ur turbo is dumping the boost. or what AllenT said.
