a friend of mine jus got 95 cummins. the guy said the fuel pickup tube or somethin had a hole in it and would suck air. we dnt know if he knew what he was talkin bout so we jus said ok. we ran new fuel lines from the top of the tank to the pump. the old ones didnt look good and were ghetto rigged somewhat.

heres the prob. while driving down the road it will start to pulsate, shake the truck real bad. then it hold the throttle down by itself trying to get fuel i think. then it will jus die. and you have to crank on it for a min to get it fire back up but it will start doing the same thing within a 100 yards. does this sound like its sucking air somewhere in the system or the lift pump is going out?
any ideas are greatly appreciated.

 

If you replaced the fuel lines and did them right then there is only three places that you probably have a problem. One possibility is the assembly going into your fuel tank could have some problems and needs to be pulled out. The second being that the fuel filter is in dire need of replacement and is so filthy that it cant pass enough fuel through. The third possibility is your lift pump is going out and needs to be replaced. I would say try the first two first since they are relatively in-expensive and then look at the lift pump since it has the highest price tag.

 

thats what we were thinking. he put a new fuel filter on couple days ago and it didnt help that problem. it did help it rev better tho!! i was thinking the lift pump was bad. another friend of our says his lift pump went out cus a diaphram in the pump tore or something and it was sucking air through a weep hole in the pump. think we r going to try that.
