Make sure the calipers aren't installed on the wrong side and are thus upside down.

My brakes are horrible too. And I also have a clunk a lot of the time when i let off the brakes after i stop. But, if I throw it into neutral when I am coming to a stop, I NEVER have the clunk. Only when it is in drive. The clunk aggrovates me more than the bad brakes. I have also bled all my brakes, a new rear brake line, new wheel cylinders in the back, and it just doesent stop good. Especially with the Goerend converter that actually has some pull to it while you are at idle. My brakes at one time, were great, but then ever since my rear end went out, and I swapped to another D70, it has been pathetic. Im gonna have to get to the bottom of the clunk, and get some better braking this summer.

I think the brakes are crap. I have replaced everything in the front and in the rear except the drums. I even upgraded to GM 1 1/8" wheel cylinders. The truck will lock up the rear tires anytime I want, but still doesn't stop worth a crap. Has anyone ever done any type of front brake upgrade. The rear brake upgrade helps when you carry a load, but I think it makes normal empty braking terrifing if you try a panic stop.

FWIW guys , I let the shop work on the truck , because i got sick of it , they replaced both from calipers again (they were still under warranty from the last time) and the truck stops straight , for now anyways...

Brake pull

Wasn't the reason that the shim located behind the front rim put there to change the front end geometry to correct the pull caused when brakes are applied,so why would you want remove it? I have one located behind the passenger rim,I have never had a problem with it pulling, but the brakes never stopped for crap.

A bad track bar or ball-joint will cause the brakes to pull like a demon. I've gone through more calipers than I can count. Rebuilts have a tedency to seize up
