Start-up problem

Routine of how it acts, starts without any problem, will idle smoothly with no problems, when more fuel is supplied say to 1000 rpm's it will run fine for 5-10 seconds then start to miss really bad and start smoking whitish-blue smoke like crazy sometimes bad enough it totally covers up the truck, most of the time if held steady at 1000 rpms it will smooth out after 30 seconds or so and run fine without any further problems on restarts, if more fuel is given it will miss more and eventually rpms's will decrease till the motor dies. Do I have a line leaking letting air in the supply line for the fuel or do you think it may be some other problem? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Truck description is in my signature.

Given the age of the rig, I would suspect you need to do a complete fuel line service. The flexible hoses from the frame lines to the engine, from the tank to the frame lines, and the hose inside the tank should all be replaced every three or so years. They get microscopic holes that allow air in, but do not leak fuel.

The other things to check include the screen in the fuel heater, the electrical connector on the fuel heater for air leaks, and the overflow valve on the side of the injection pump next to the block.

Try the fuel line service

Kinda seems you are gettin air somewhere in teh rubber lines that are present. Have you changed ur fuel filter recently?? Try that too... and get some fresh diesel in ur tank too, It could also be bad fuel, but its more likely than not, air...

Best of luck
