Snap ring on silencer broken

this might be a dumb question but....
i tried to take off the silencer ring on my CTD today and i think it might be broken. if it's a snap ring it's missing the little ears to get it out of there so that i can get the silencer out.
what should i do???
the ring is close to the silencer so i can't get pliers in there to rip it out( i tried!!!)
thanks

-Bryan

Those rings don't have ears. You have to get a couple of small flat blade screwdrivers, and just work it out of the groove.

U dont have to be ginger about it

You downright have to be rough. THose dang lil snap rings dont come off easy, what i did was find where the snap ring was slit, and worked the screwdriver in there, once it got in i just pried away slowly workin around the ring then it will come off eventually..

My suggestion is dont baby it, and start from where its slit, not that tough to do.. Good luck tho!

careful. the housing in aluminum. a BFM is not needed.

Use 2 small flat head screwdrivers. lift one end up very carefully, just high enough to insert the second driver under. then work the second driver back until the ring comes loose.

You cant baby it, but dont man handle it either. One slip of the screw driver into the turbo fins and you aint goin nowhere.

And if you look closely the snap ring is slit at an angle like / so one side of it will be easier to get ahold of than the other. I finally flipped out once and just pried out the silencer ring and the snap ring is still in there. Prolly not a good solution but it worked.
