Smoke at startup
Smoke at startup
I've noticed recently that I am smoking some at startup after my truck sits for a couple of days. I'm starting to wonder if this could be the initial signs of a more major issue.
The smoke is gray to black in color, and I don't notice it anymore once the truck warms up. In the warmer weather it seems to be starting just fine, runs normal as well. I know that last winter that the truck was much harder to start than the previous winter (had no access to a block heater, but even at temps that I wouldn't normally plug in it was still harder to start). Also, noted that on some of the colder mornings ~15*F the truck would make a howling noise when I gave it a little fuel to start. Could this be cracked fuel lines that need to be replaced, or should I start to break down and take it into a shop?
Any thoughts on what I should be looking into?
BTW, does anyone know of a shop in the Poughkeepsie NY area?

I don't think a little smoke is bad at startup, but you don't want excessive smoke. Not sure what you mean by the howling sound... sorry I can't be of more help, but I'm sure the others will know what to tell you
