Repairing a block

I picked up a 98 1/2 automatic block. A burst injector killed the #5 piston and the cylinder wall. How big can these things be overbored? How bad do they have to be before they cannot be sleeved?

Boring

I had mine bored out 50mm or .020 inches. If I remember right it could have gone to .030". As far as sleeves, I bet buying a reman engine would be less money.
Hope this helps .... Ken Gardner

Lightbulb Why start being logical now

Good advise.

I generally take the harder more expensive choice, when there is a choice!

I also hate to throw anything away. Since we are bombing the heck out of this thing, aftermarket pistons, cam, valve springs and a BIG turbo and pump mods, we will have everything machined to tolerance, etc. I like to know what I have, even if it means tearing a perfectly good vehicle or engine apart!!
