removing fan clutch......forum payback.

I have been a member for awhile now but seldom post. Normally every time I need to know something I can find the answer by using the search feature. Well I had to pull my clutch fan off the other day. I didn't have the fancy pulley holding tool and I could not keep the pulley from slipping on the belt. I finally took out a big hammer and a long chisel and gave it a couple of whacks in the direction it needed to go and it spun right off. Just thought I would make a post and might be able to help someone else out when they use the search.

Even though I have the fancy tools for removing the fan I always start out with a couple whacks just as you did.
Without the whacks sometimes they don't break loose with just the wenches.

Dab a booger of some antiseize on the threads to make the next removal much easier. Don't worry about it spinning loose as a result, the way the threads run, normal engine/fan rotation keeps things tight.
