recommendation - transmission shop
I live in Orange County NY.
Looking for another trans shop other than the one i've been to (i had a 2500 gas 5.9 done there - "eh" with overall visit) 96 12V automatic is what i'm going to bring. thanks |
These are expensive but better than having to get the thing rebuilt 2 or 3 times from "gasser" transmission shops only to go this route down the road. The torque form the Cummins will destroy all but the best built 47RE

What I was fishing for was a trans shop in my near vicinity. That way you get a very good trans even if the local guy doesn't know all the tricks.......... And Dave has spent countless hours on the phone with guys talking them through issues...... Just a thought. |
You can't go wrong with ATS. They are located in the Denver area, but have affiliate shops all over the U.S. They will also work with any experienced shop you choose, if the shop can pass their muster. Clint Cannon is the owner of ATS, and is a great guy.
I've got 223,000 miles on my ATS Stage IV, rebuilt by them in 2001, and it's still going strong. http://www.atsdiesel.com/ats2/ |
Jeff Garmon in Griffin GA. Best guy around IMO. I've been dealing with him for years after DTT robbed me.
