Unhappy Temp gauge inoperative

I just got my truck back from the shop where they replaced the throttle linkage, the fuel return line from the injector pump to the fuel tank, and the oil sending unit. Those items are good to go but now my temp gauge doesn't register. It was working fine up to the point that I took the truck to the shop, now it just sits on 140 no matter what my driving conditions or load is. Whenever the air temp is 80 plus the gauge should go past 160 or so, and its not doing that. Is it possible that the sending unit was disconnected during the maintenance interval and the forgot to put it back on? I looked for the sending unit and could not find anything that looked like it though I referred to a Chilton manual. Where is it's exact location?

Talking temp sending unit

Your temp sending unit is on the drivers side back corner of the cylinder head. It's not the easyist thing to get to. Good luck

It's quite common for the temp gauge to get accidently unplugged in the battle to replace the return line. My bet is you just have to plug it back together.

Top right

Thanks for the feedback Injector and Bill. I just got back from the dealer where the mechanic plugged it back. He must accidentally pulled it during the last job.

Nice illustration Bill. Is that from the shop manual? Probably ought to invest in one of those since the Chilton manual failed to show where the temp sender was (big surprise).

I see the diagram...but I go out to my truck and what I DON'T see is anything back there.

Let me take a second and rant...I HATE TEXAS. It's only 97* today...truck is so hot I can't even lean on it to work on anything. I'd park it under a tree but I'm making an effort to grow some grass.

I guess I could hose down the engine then attempt to find that sensor.

My gauge isn't registering ANYTHING, so I think it might be a connection, sender, or gauge, and not the Autozone T-stat I have in there.

Pretty miserable huh! I need to fix my A/C too! Keeps losing it's charge. Obviously a leak somewhere.
