I have been reading posts of the fuel line problem on here and have a quick ? I replaced the lines on mine and it worked good for a few days then went back to hard starting and white smoke and missing on start up. I was planning on replacing the lines all the way to the tank until today when at my new job I parked the truck inside all day. To nite when i started it it started right up like she was new. No smoke, no missing. Tomorrow Im going to check the fuel filter gasket but what do yoiu guys think? Im new to the cummins or any other deisel for that matter so be care ful with the terms !! lol Ive also checked the fuel shut off and it seems to be working, checked everything esle for leaks and what not and I havent found anything out of the ordinarny. thanks for help!

 

Was your tank full tonite?
If the steel line developed a leak from you moving them around it won't start hard till the fuel level goes down more.

 

1/4 tank tonite

 

I had the same problem with mine, changed and checked every thing, I ended up changing the lift pump. the check valves
in the pump was letting fuel blead back to the tank
