Question about turbo

I have a fleece cheetah on my 12 valve, the guy who put it on did a good job and got it sealed pretty good, I don't wanna undo his work. Can I just take the turbo apart leaving the exhaust housing on and just slip my HX35 core in there? Should work since they are both HX35s right? Plus I'd like to keep the wastegate from the Cheetah.

Sounds possible... but have not tried it that way.

There's nothing real special about how the turbine housing seals. Just a dry-fitted stainless shim gasket to the manifold, and a v-band clamp on the outlet. Carbon tends to fill-in any crevices.

If they used a different turbine wheel, they housing may be modified to fit it.

Yea I'm just gonna put my stock turbo on with a non-wastegated 14cm housing, should be able to spool it no problem. Foots gonna be the wastegate.
