Pump Timing Recommendation

What's your recommendation to set the pump timing on truck no. 2 in signature?

I'll also be installing a No 10 plate and a 3K GSK.

p.s. I've got gauges.

I would go 5.6-5.8mm plunger lift if its not a EGR equipped engine.

You should go to at least 16 if not 17 or 18 degrees.

5.5 mm or 15.5* would be where I would go..... Above this some trucks with your mods and a 215 pump will loose the headgasket. Besides no need to go any higher with no more fuel than is being injected, now if you add large injectors more timing will help.

how does one find out if his truck is e.g.r. equipped?
I have a california rig but not sure it has e.g.r.

Check your CPL # and use this chart http://www.piersdiesel.com/TechPTiming.htm

I'll second Jetpilot's recommendation of 15.5. Mine is set there and it runs and starts fine. It's where Piers recommended as well.

CPL 1863 is a California truck with EGR. If you have a big pipe running across your valve covers from the exhaust manifold to the intake horn, that's your EGR.

By the way, if you do have an EGR, make sure that pipe doesn't touch the hood insulation. Can catch on fire!

I'm in the clear, I've got 2174 for the c.p.l. and no e.g.r. pipe connecting my intake to exhaust manifolds
