What did you guys use for a gear puller? (pics)

You can make your own gauge holder out of an old drain plug (or a 22mm bolt, 1.5 thread)

I used the snapon puller also. Worked great. In reality any flat puller that is slotted for 2 bolts, like a balancer puller but smaller, would work. I was going to make all the tools to do my timing but couldnt find a drain plug locally so I just ordered the DV socket, puller, and gauge adapter from snap on. It was cheaper than buying the DV socket locally also. The diesel shop wanted $100

I got a steering wheel puller from Autozone for like $15, then you just need the right length/thread pitch bolts, I found some grade 8 bolts at a local hardware store for a few bucks, Dusty

was the 1 3/16 socket used a 6pt or 12pt ?

this would save purchasing the special 32pt special socket necessary according to instructions

snapon is out of the DV socket too..

steering wheel puller and the short intake horn bolts work to remove the gear.
