I highly reccomend you go to that popular internet auction site and get a plate for about 20 bucks like I did, then stick in that 3k gov spring. I have my #10 plate set most of the way back and the AFC tuned pretty good so I hardly smoke at all, I can get a good bit of black when the OD kicks in if I'm trying too but under normal driving no smoke.

With the tow haul button engaged and a loaded heavy uphill pull I can get hotter on the pyro that one would like but empty it is tough to get into the red on the pyro. I don't have to worry about the wife or others driving it and I don't have to sit there and babysit the pyro either and I can watch the highway and traffic.

I also have DDP stage 1 +50 hp injectors and I'm happy with them too.

The truck isn't a hot rod by any means but it sure runs nice, stock was a turd as you know

IMO this is the way it should have run from the factory.

7707, to simply answer your question it would be YES, do the 3K spring kit, fuel plate and a boost elbow. thats all I have and I have all the power i need, and my stock 47RH trans with a Goerend converter holds up just fine. But defently do the 3K spring kit, even with the automatic mine was de-fueling before every upshift and now after the kit its like I bought a new common rail

I'm about there joem.

My question now is...on Piers site they show HP/TQ ratings etc for all the plates they sell and then have the disclaimer for which years can handle which amounts of power etc.

On TST's site their chart shows only the #6 "package" for my truck...all the others...which have less HP/TQ according to Peirs... show 'NR' on TST's site.

I e-mailed TST to ask them but haven't received a response yet.

Mine defuels right at 2200 now...which is aggrevating as you all know...the engine and trans both seem like they want to 'go' so much further.

your fine, in 1994 and 95 dodge kept the power around 160hp for our trucks then when Ford came out with the power stroke in late 1995 Dodge upped the power of the 12v to 215hp for there 1996 year trucks and at the same time told cummins to start developing a new electronic engine (the 24v). the 1994-1998 has the same everything, just upped the pump to stay in check with Ford at the time. Boosting up our 1995's is just as safe as boosting a 1998

So if I order the #6 from TST and put my motor at 230 HP and 600 TQ I should be fine correct? I've read where the boost elbow isn't a good idea autos but I didn't understand why.

I drive my 95 and have added the 10 plate when I also added the 3000 g spring the truck came alive. I used the boost elbow that came with the plate and now see 36 lbs boost. I see 1100 pyro on hills pulling my 10,000 lb golden falcon fiver. I marked and installed the 10 plate in the same place hat the stock plate was and I have no problems to date. The AFC spring did not need to be changed because the spring is weak in the 95 trucks. You will be happy how your truck works if you add the 10 plate ,boost elbow and the 3000 governor spring.Later Don

Pulled my plate a while back and tuned the afc. makes for a very driveable truck. only time I see somewhat high egts (1500) is on a drag race to b honest. although iv never towed without it so can't comment on that. also when I put in my 4k gsk and took it for a rip I didn't notice hardly any difference. till I yanked the plate the extra fuel up top definitely helped a lot. although I later discovered that my ofv was toast so maybe that would contribute to that. anyways if I was u id pull the plate and keep an eye on ur gauges and drive wisely with ur tranny. if u can't control urself like I can't then just grind ur plate for goodness sakes. its so easy would never ever pay even $20 for a plate much less $200 like some ppl want. like Tate said in the end fuel is fuel doesn't matter how it gets there or what thing (injectors, plate, or clogged filter for that matter) controls the fuel. I think in this case fuel is fuel.

I blocked off the boost elbow and I've yet to see 40 lbs, 35 or a stitch more but never 40

If your on the wire just do it, I've had my truck for 15 years and ran it for 13 years bone stock and I hated it for 13 years.

Now I've done this and am really enjoying the truck, it will power up a hill and not come out of OD where before it would pop out of OD and rev like hell with no fuel (2200 defuel) and I'd slow down while the transmission would hunt for a gear and try to go back into OD only to pop back out and **** me off.

Now it just stays in OD - like a couple hours ago I motored up a hill with a fully loaded 11 foot camper and all of my wifes junk plus 3 kids worth of junk and it would have stayed there all day long in OD if I let it, but I push the OD button to not let it work so much and build heat.

I'm telling you, 13 years I drove a complete turd - don't do it any longer than you have too.
