Posi Lock 4x4 Install, comments, and trial
Guys
I have got to tell you, If you use your 4wd on ur rig every so often, or everyday, this is by far the best investment you can make for your ride... It is really easy to install, heck honestly, i even did it in the dark.. it started to rain by the time i had pulled out the vacuum actuator and all the lights went out. A hint to many of you if you are gonna install this.. Use a hacksaw to cut the actual CAD housing for the ease of removing the actual shift fork. Total install time took me just under two hours, after my dad drilled the hole in the firewall for the cable to go thru, first time around that cable is pretty tough to route, but if you do get it, pull it down right away after you insert it thru the hole, and it should be a piece of cake.. For tomorrow or the day after i will have some pictures up as to how i did the install, Honestly the only head breakers are how to route the cable, why they didnt include more cable ties in the kit, as well as the RV sealant.. and finally getting out the fork from the actuator.
The electrical is nothing really, you just splice the OEM and connect the little wires to an adapter you have, they do go opposite of where they were originally. If you dont understand how the 4wd collar works, by the time you install this system it will all make perfect sence to you.
I was done installing it, and turned on the truck, it just rained to i decided to go try out my new toy...
close to my house there is an abandoned clay lot, just the key, and just enough gravel to actually allow you to get out even with stock tires. i shifted into four wheel drive the indicator came on and when you simply push the button in, and pull it out an inch, it moves the collar into the lock position INSTANTLY... truly axle lock on demand...
and the lil indicator worked as well.... Went forward, reverse, did left and right as well in forward and reverse, gunned it, slowed it and even grabbed four low as well.. finally I drove out the other end after some not so destructive four wheeling, and unlocked the front even in four hi, a difference was felt that the system was out of lock. Decided to try the so called "2 low function" meanin you unlock your axle and just throw ur T case into four low.. COOL!!!! i could definately use this for trailer backin in a tight spot!
Many of you RV'ers can find use for that option definately.
I did have one problem.. The little four wheel drive indicator stuck after using it in four low... I will look into tihs tomorrow and post a solution if i Find it..
Guys if you are tired of your Vac actuator, just trust me on this and get one of these kits, they will save you alot of headache... Im sure mine and I will be really good friends this coming deer season
On four wheel parts if you can get it with discount, with two day shipping its just over 200 dollars..
The price was right for my latest BOMB.... and the ease of instalation was as well..
Thank you for reading, and hope this helps
Any questions PM me..
SPecial thanks to vssman! Thanks Paul!
A very happy Tx

Nice! I wouldnt mind to have the 2 low kit for my truck. My truck is pretty high geared, so it would be nice sometimes, especially pulling a goosneck around slow up hills, and things to keep my tranny temp low. How does the 2 low kit install?

Solution to problem!
The little indicator was stuck because it was not screwed in the right position, it is sorta tricky on how to get it just right to get the indicator to move, when the little switch is pushed in from the new adapter it stops the circuit and thus ur lil indicator light dont turn on, when u engage, it pulls the end of the cable away and u have ur light stuck on, but since it is a really small fraction of an inch that my cable actualy moved away from the circuit, I had to release the little electrical wires and loosen the adapter slighty, put wires back on, and problem solved..
PS... this kit also engages better in reverse than forwards.. been playin with 4x4 two days now, some days it feels like it dont grab, or it does, the way i engage it for sure that works best is to stop completely, pull lever into 4x4 range, press in clutch, and slowly start to reverse and twist and pull the **** while pressing the center button, then it will click and lock when the gears align..... and it engages...
