p7100 CPL 1968 pump tell me about it info is conflicting

Picking up a CPL 1968
1995 160hp model engine
from what i can find this is a CA specific cpl 160/400 model but some people have indicated it may have a different pump cam but no one can indicate what the cam in the pump is capable of. from some research if sounds like it should be a 12 mm plunger with a less aggressive cam and 131 delivery valves. another thread says its same cam as 96+180hp but has 167 DV’s with 12mm plungers where as the 180hp is 181 DV’s others same came cam as the 180 hp but with 131 DV’s

the 160hp federal has a different cam 131 DV’s and 11mm plungers.

but thats just how goofy all the info out there on the p7100 cams and plunger sizes can be some times. what points to a possible shared cam is the lift data on there between it and the 180hp being similar. next question is if thats the case and it has 131 DV’s with the same size plungers as the 180hp then a simple change out to 181 DV’s ought to liven up the lack luster bottom end on this thing

from:
TSB 18-29-95 Rev. A
"For 1995 1/2 M.Y. Engines equipped with Automatic transmission and a CPL number of 1968, set timing not to exceed 14.5 degrees BTDC static timing or 4.9 mm plunger lift at TDC.”

all other 160hp cpls go 13.5 degrees BTDC static timing or 5.9 mm plunger lift at TDC.
Diesel Timing

also I’m finding conflicting info on the factory injectors
all 1995-1998 160 hp / 180hp CA trucks 5x9.5 .000354
49 state 160 hp 94/95 - 5x9 .000318

long and short how much lift is this pump capable of at 17-18 degrees sounds like i can run it with more timing.... but the biggie is how big are the plungers. and if it is a 131 DV motor then 181 DV’s with the 12mm plungers would be nice hopefully its not like a 210 pump where the pump cam no matter what won’t give you much past 2300 for fuel

the plan for this motor as clean as it is is to do use up some parts I’ve got around. hamilton 178/208 cam, motor home manifold, mild injectors, 4k gov spring kit 60# valve springs, head studs, HE351 and lol an old banks twin ram intake that i never thought id get to use. ill probably do valve seals, check deck, a new HG, hone ring and bearing before putting it in the truck. but the motor for 190k miles has near zero paint flake even off the tops of the exhaust ports etc.

what can you guys tell me about this pump

Whats the id tag say on the pump? that info will help more than anything in getting info on it.

since the id tag is 900 miles away in my brothers barn in Montana. he’s been the original owner since the truck came off the lot. its never been to a dealership or a shop since day one so no swapping etc but getting him to look for pump numbers is not happening though i know how important they are to the finer details.... at a wild chance i thought with the cpl we could at least make some WAGs but lately I’m thinking everyone has become a CR and VP44 junkie plug in and play..... lol

At this point I’ve got two motors a 210 hp commercial sitting at my disposal to pick and choose from and this 160 hp one has 200K the other less than 40k on a 2013 reman 210 hp out of a MT/f650.... what I’m trying to decifer is the p7100’s the 210 i suspect has 12 mm plungers but an anemic cam...... can a larger pump cam be bought and installed reasonably. the 210 as i understand it even with gov springs will still cut off fueling by 2300-2400. the 160 hp runs strong and smooth never has been messed with I’m wondering if it would be the better candidate to throw onto the fresh 210 motor since according it TST, hamilton and few others the rpm potential of the 210 pump is severely limited. something that i can not confirm nor prove incorrect. trying to dig up what sized injectors does the 210 cpp 1552 have vs the 160 cpl 1968. since the cpl 1968 is so unique i was hoping its specs would stand out different.

if it become the case that everyone wants the pn’s off the injectors and the pump because the cpl tells us nothing then why the heck did they even throw a cpl on these darned things with most other cpls i can find injector hole specs, DV’s specs and barrel size etc but this one is really driving me nuts. LOL if nothing else maybe someone could dig up the injector specs for that CPL. that’d be a start I’m not even finding anything on that spec. without pulling the bodies and getting PN that way.

Number off the pump id's the pump, simple as that. CPL on the motor doesn't mean squat if the pump has been swapped. Bosch vs Cummins numbers too, I don't believe Cummins is concerned with every little detail pump to pump other then how much it flows and when. Bosch does though.

908 tag # on top

best i can tell it says its an 854 pump FYI its that # that correlates with cpl1968
0-402-736-854.

still no info on the injectors. but ill get around to that and add the info
