Oil pan removal/rear main seal. Can the pan be replaced in the truck?

I need to replace the rear main seal in my 94 4x4 dually. I want to replace the rusty pan at the same time. Will I be able to replace this in the truck??
Let me know

I think you have to jack the front of the motor up.

Absolutly ive done inframes before and yeah ease up on the front end and block in place dont trust even the best lifts. Unscrew the pan and drop enough to get the suction tube lose and remove. while you are at the rear main inspect or upgrade drivetrain, dependent on you trans type.

Good luck,

oil pan

Boston..
MAKE sure, every once of oil is drained and the truck sits for 3 days or so if you can, it's UGLY when that pan comes off...oil everywhere.I did mine before i stuck the motor in the truck {when i did my conversion}..it's a pain in the butt, lots of bolts[duhhh] ..it will be a chore with the engine in the truck..have fun![coffee]

I did mine on friday, took about 3.5 hours. Had to jack up the engine a good 2 inches to get it to clear. not a big deal theres slots in the engine mounts so it dosent get out of allingment. I had to unbolt the fan shroud 4 bolts and the intake side upper intercooler hose plus the 2 trans mounting bolts. RTV sealer on the pan side helps keep the gasket in place when your trying to bolt it up.
