No start
well my truck just decided not to start this morning. I am kinda conserned sence its never done it before and my truck is young at only 90,000. I had to take another car, didnt have time to work on it. When i tried to start it just turned over and over and if i gave it a lot of gas it would try to start, stumpling alittle but then nothing. I got home and it was warmer and tried it again with out doing anything and it did the same. Then i checked the usual stuff, fuel shut off and i primed the lift pump, and tried it again and after alittle it fired but died quickly, tried again and it started but ran like poop and then cleared up and was fine. I let it warm up and drove it everything was fine acted normal.
I have about a 1/4 tank of gas, been burning it for weeks. I do think i have a week lift pump and was wondering if this could cause this, lossing prime maybe. It could have been a combonation of could morning, week lift pump and sitting for 2 days, but it just seemed to hard to start for that. I will see what it does in acouple hours and then what it does in the morning could be nothing. thanks for any help, Matt |
Maybe have a small hole in a fuel line between the LP and Injection pump allowing it to loose prime. Remember you don't have GAS in that tank . It better be DIESEL FUEL !

When you were priming it, could you hear the overflow valve opening? I'm guessing you have an airleak, or a bad overflow valve. This is where a fuel pressure gauge is handy.

[duhhh] I mean diesel
Ya ill check the line but hard to get a good view i was thinking OV but do they just go like that, one day perfect the next no start. thanks for the ideas |
another thought is that at 1/4 tank of fuel mebbe the fuel sender is bad and you are right at the edge of running out of fuel.....I would be tempted to dump 5 gallons or so of fuel in it and see what it does.
