No more Syntorq...

just read on "http://www.quad4x4.com/syntorqlt.html" that Castrol doesn't make syntorq any more.
I am assuming that Mopar 4874459 and GM 12346190 were Syntorq, but since it is no longer made, it follows that these OEM fluids are now something else... Anyone know what they are now?? And how they would compare to redline and/or amsoil?

The guys at Quad4x4 say, "After looking at all the possible alternative oils, we determined our QU90020 Red Line 75w85 full synthetic GL4 MT85 oil as the best choice to add-to or replace the now defunct Syntorq LTŪ as it has the same 75w85 gear oil viscosity rating and it is specifically labeled to replace the Original Equipment lubricant specification and/or part numbers for NV4500..."

Seems the best choices are either Amsoil, Redline, or the GM/Mopar fluids. I have read mostly good but a few bad things about both redline and amsoil, and not knowing what the oem fluids are makes me wonder...

Thoughts?

Jim, for what it's worth.

I have run Amsoil mtg lube in my nv4500 in the dodge for the last 200,000km with no issues at all. I drained all the stock fluid, filled the tranny to the proper level, then poured 1 more quart down through the shift tower opening. I have run this oil in temps from +35C TO -50C, towing, running empty (12000lbs empty), and have no complaints about it. I also run this oil in my nv4500 gmc trucks. I do not abuse my trucks, nor do I baby them.

Just something to think about
