News to me

I purchased my 98 2500 4x4 auto used in 2001.I stumbled
upon this forum, looking for info. about my oil pressure reading dropping off erratically, any ways, that's all taken care of. Three days ago I read about the "KDP" and cant stop thinking about it. The truck has 147,000 miles on it. Should I be as nervous to drive it, as I am? I seriously want to park it until the repair kit comes in from tst. Do I have a better chance of survival because my truck is bone stock? I need some reassurance

i felt the same way when i first heard about it. you should be fine, but you never know when it will let loose. i told a friend of mine to let me fix his when he first got the truck. he put it off for 3weeks then i got a phone call from him telling me his truck is pouring oil out. mods have nothing to do with the pin falling out

You should be OK, but if you can get it done soon it would be good. I used the TST kit and it is a great kit.

The odds of it falling out are not all that high. The issue is how much damadge it can do when it does. I got mine, drove it two weeks and then tabbed the KDP. I was worried, but not to much. I'd just drive it and install the tab this weekend. (You already ordered the kit right?) It should be fine for a few more days.

Having a stock truck has nothing to do with it - get it fixed.

300K or 3K dont even risk it, Just kill that KDP! Buy a TST kit, and use about 4 hours of your time... Youll even sleep better at night knowing that youve done it.. I know that I did...

How much you worry about it depends on how much you can afford the $1000 - $3000 to repair the damage.
I know several people who parked their trucks till the problem was taken care of, even more who payed it no mind and a handful who wish they had.
Your choice.

It is a really easy job, I did mone within a few hundred miles of getting my truck. I had no choice but to drive my truck, parking it was not an option for me. But I did it as soon as I possibly could. And am VERY glad that I did. It was sticking out about 1/4"...
