Newbie question: How are low fuel pressure and EGt related?

I've read and just recently experienced that when you have a clogged fuel filter and thus low fuel pressure, EGT goes up....

Why? I though over fuel would cause high EGT's -- so my simple mind can't get wrapped around a lack of fuel also causeing high EGT's....

Anybody got the physics behind this one? I know the solution - just need the explination

My experience:
I just added an in bed tank with it's own filter, ran about 100 miles with it and probably sucked up all the gunk off the bottom of the tank that I could not clean out when it was empty. Now when I switch to the in bed tank I am not getting enough fuel and, lose a ton of power and my EGT's go up. As soon as I switch back to the stock tank - seriously in 2 seconds, all is normal.

I've never heard of egts going up with a clogged filter and don't see why they should but for sure mpgs go down for reasons I don't quite understand.

Lower fuel pressure would retard the injection timing a bit. That might bring up the EGTs.

That is what I thought as well -- if you have low pressure, you have less fuel - mpg should improve

I read the increase in EGT in a couple other post, before i made my post - and I saw it with my own eyes -- under light load, just a normal lack of power -- but when I laid into it power would really drop and EGT's would quickly climb -- flip the switch to the regular tank - EGT would drop and power would come right back...
