In need of 5 speed transmission

My dad's got a 96 3500 Dually. About two days ago the auto transmission he has went bad on him. It's done. We're looking for a place to buy a used manual transmission for this truck. Were looking to convert it to the manual. We need something to handle the extra torque after installing the new injectors and pump. Were located in New York so any comments are welcomed and appreciated.

DTT could build ya one heck of an auto. That would more than handle the power. I am not sure i am sure someone will be way more helpfull than me, but it may get kinda pricey converting. Unless you are just determind to have a 5 speed. Just my opinion

I did a conversion on a 96 dually. It's quite doable, but note that the output shaft is larger on the NV4500, so the input shaft on the transfer case (assuming it's a 4wd) will have to be changed. The clutch hydraulics, and pedals are a relatively simple matter, as well as wiring changes, mounts, etc.

cheaper to get a built auto tranny then do the conversion IMHO...DTT for example has tested theirs in trucks just over 800 hp last i heard and its holding up no problem....maybe they've gone over that....plus the autos are great for racing...snap ur neck WOT shifting.....to handle 800 horses on a stick tranny u need more than just a clutch and you'll have to throw almost as much money at it as the auto

As far as installing the manual transmission, that is no big deal. My dad is in that line of business. What I need is any resources on where I can find a used manual transmission.

I know it sounds obvious, but have you tried Ebay? I was looking for Dodge diesel trucks there and ran across a bunch of used trannies.

Try this one:
http://turbodieselregister.com/cgi-b...lassifieds.cgi

In order to post there, you will have to register (and I think, pay for account activation). But you can browse and contact sellers without one.

Good luck finding it.
