Muffler and Cat
I'm thinking about removing my muffler and cat. Will it be so loud that it isn't tolerable for everyday use? I would like to increase fuel mileage and lower EGT's more than anything, don't want it to sound like one of those bumble bee rice burners.

when i first got my truck i did that and yes it is very loud turbo sounds cool as hell but the exuast baffels to much i just put 6'' miter cut smoke staks on yesterday and sounds cool as hell music to my ears, also before the staks i had a mbrp 4'' exaust and made it extreamly driveabull compared to cutting it all off also performed a lil better, hope this helps

Hang on to your cat! Stash it somewhere out of the way, but don't get rid of it. You never know when your state will start up emissions testing. If they do, you can rig it back up for the inspection. Usually it's just a visual inspection, so you could break out the ceramic element inside and just leave it in place. KD

It will be loud but not to bad. I just put a MBRP exhaust on mine due to needing a muffler and it is quiter but I miss my straight pipe. I used to drive her up to VA straight piped on a 7 hour drive. Never bothered me or the other half. I also second saving the cat. They are around $600 new [yuk]

stock straight pipe sounds great and isn't very loud inside the truck at all

If you just cut it off and leave it under the cab it will be pretty loud. If you run it out the back of the truck its not much louder than stock when the windows are rolled up.
