Question Mobile1 NV4500 Oil ?

Has anyone ran the Mobile 1 GL-5 rated 75w/90 oil in their 5-speeds {nv4500} before?I just bought some and was wondering how you liked it.I know from the experts the Castrol Syntorque oil was the the next best thing but Auto Zone was out of it.

Not the next best thing, the only reccomended fluid. And you will have to go to the dealer to get it, Dodge, or GM...

There are a few places online that sell it as well.

It has to have GL4 rating or it will dissolve the syncros. Amsoil will work.

I wouldn't run it in mine. The plate says ONLY (in bold, underlined letters) Not or equlivent.

I don't wanna be rude about it, but they are very spesific about not using other fluids.

My tranny has a small leak in it

busted gasket or hole in the sealant perhaps. Its what i have in the truck as backup and in the garage at home.. Works well for my application...

I have been running Royal Purple for 11,000 miles. My trans shifts really good. I think I read on here that it was ok to use it.

I dont think any AP sells Castrol syntorque, not syntec mind you. Ive talked with the reps from Castrol America and they wouldent acknowledge its existance. They just said Yes we do make specific oils for auto mfg`s. Not reccomending it but some have run Redline MT90. What the heck at $19 a quart you got a deal compared to the last time I bought it. The zinc is what eats up the syncros as any GL5 rated lube will basically. I think Standard transmission in Texas sells it by the gallon for $52.

We use the Amsoil synthetic in all our NV4500 overhauls at the shop. Seems to work just fine. I even put it in mine when I serviced it.
