Low vacuum output from pump

This is a new to me truck. I replaced all the rusted out brake lines, new master cylinder, and bled out. Pedal is real hard.

I pulled the main vac hose off the vacuum pump and at idle im only getting 9" on a gauge.

Check out GOULD GEAR & ELECTRIC INC. or give Pete a call he can tell you more about the pumps than anyone I know. Easy to rebuild if needed or he has complete units.

Ok, think I've found the culprit.

someone has converted this truck to the newer vac/power steering pump combo.
Only problem is there is no oil feed line to it. It has a tee'd off rubber hose from the main vacuum hose to the bottom of the pump to the oil feed.

I'm unsure if it's salvageable. I assume the vacuum is created somehow with oil pressure.....

Does it look like this?

If so, it is a 97 up Hydraboost, and this is how it operates:

Should be relatively easy to just use 97 up lines and PS pump housing to get it going.

The truck is an 89. It's not hydroboost. It's setup like a 95 would be with just vacuum.

it's just missing the oil press. feed to the vac pump. I don't know why someone would convert the vacuum setup and just not hook up the oil to it.

I'm unsure if there is anything in the pump that can be ruined with no oil press.

Problem fixed.

$38 for a custom10" braided hydraulic hose and 3 adapter fittings.

Had vacuum as soon as it had oil pressure.
