low idle cold
low idle cold
can some tell me why when my truck is cold i have to hold the pedale down just a little to keep it running for about two minets. if i take my off the pedale two fast it will die. has been better with 6# plate i just put in. this truck has 320,000 miles and i don't anything has been dun to the pump.
I second the idle question. I set mine up a bit to 875 in the winter, and that puts me at about 750 when I first start, rather than 600 or 650...they all idle slower when cold. If your timing is factory or slipped even lower, that will make it a bit more cranky when cold--it's just plain easy to put the fire out when they're cold

Most of the time, the idle should be set at about 750 rpms or so in gear and with AC on for the vehicle to fire up right away. And yes when these trucks are cold they are a little tougher to start. If you bump up your idle, it should facilitate the starting. I personally have my 96 at around 750 or so in gear, and it starts up on the first try everytime after two cranks at the most.
