Low boost

About two months ago, I gouged the throttle one day and noticed gray smoke in the mirror and suddenly lower power. Boost was down too.

My boost struggles to reach 8-10 pounds lately. AFE filter is clean and the turbo spins freely. My truck has a WH1C that has never given trouble.

I have wondered if the waste gate maybe be hung open.

My truck usually hazes a little black smoke until the turbo comes up to speed and then exhaust is very light gray. Power hits hard at this point. No hint of black smoke lately.

EGT's are well within limits too.

I cannot hear anything like a boost leak under the hood or while driving.

Weather here has not been cooperative to look at much lately.

All suggestions appreciated.

Ronco

I would check the two lower boots for rips.
They like to rub on the lip of the fender and it rubs a gouge into the lower boot.
If not move to checking all the clamps and boots.

Check the reference line that feeds the AFC on top of the pump (where boost elbow) goes if all boots look ok. If it leaks, the pump won't know there is enough air to supply more fuel.....

Even with the gate open it should get up to decent pressure at higher rpm's, if it's at all "tuned".

All good suggestions. Thanks

We got ice today, so my interest is waining right now in standing outside and spending time on my truck.

Seen lots of wastegate actuators leak. Also, if the fuel shutdown solenoid isn't lifting fully, you will have a lack of power.
