Leaking Transmission Lines
 
I thought I already posted this but I can't find it. I put a low profile drip pan under my truck to help find leaks. Im mostly leaking transmission fluid and mostly out of the quick connects going to the cooler. Is there a better fix for this other than ordering new lines? Im not a big fan of those connectors and thought about just cutting and using hose clamps. Let me know if there's a trick to fixing this.

What type of fitting are you referring to when you say Quick Connects?
Are they hose and barb style, garter spring style like a Guest Fitting or a Push Lok fitting ?
Push Lok fittings must use Push Lok hose or it will leak, also if you use a clamp it will cut the hose and connection will fail.
Do you have a picture of the fittings we can see.

It's the push lock style. The type that has to have One of those plastic round Rings to push inside to release the fitting. Same as on most gas Engine fuel filters.

Also was wondering what is the best type of transmission fluid?

You can usually replace the garter spring and o-ring to repair them.
Check the auto parts for a repair kit.

That sounds like a good start. I'd rather do that than buy the lines from Dodge.
As for the tranny fluid, I've read that +4 is best for stock and dextron for upgraded. Also some people are saying they run hydraulic fluid. I'm not sure if it's all hydraulic or a mix. My transmission is doing well and Im not planning on fooling with trying something different. I would like to know if its ok to add friction modifier to help the clutches last longer. I know from experience that it helps clutches in limited slip diffs. I had a '96 that started popping and clicking. I drained it and added heavyweight oil and double the friction mod and it never gave me another problem.
If it's a bad idea in the tranny though, let me know. Thanks.
