Alright, so when its cold outside (somewhere around 20*F) my truck starts to leak. In about 3 minutes today I had what looked like $0.50 of diesel on the ground under my engine where it was running down onto the front pig. Once the truck gets warm, I don't seem to notice any leakage.

Any ideas on this?

 

Well my only experience is my lift pump leaked because there is a retaining ring inside that wears out but mine lost prime 4 or 5 times so maybe its fuel return line?? Hope it helps

I would wipe down all surfaces where the diesel could be coming from and see where it shows up first. If the leak is before the lift pump, it won't leak when running(under negative gauge pressure) but it will also probably suck some air so the truck won't run as well.

 

I've had the fuel filter develop a pin hole more than one time.

I have no idea why but there would be a chip of paint missing from the bottom and a small enough hole to just drip a little fuel while it's running. change the filter an no more leaking.

 

You need to narrow down that leak a lot closer to get info over the internet .
Pressure wash , dry , have someone under hood before starting , to watch many areas , metal lines to injectors , on side of main pump - between eng & pump , then going under intake manifold , down to heater prefilter , fuel filter , weep hole on side of lift pump .

 

I would look at your lift pump and fuel lines, mine did the same thing.

What are you worried about $0.50 of diesel fuel is just a couple drops anymore, almost to small of a leak to see
