kdp & timing

is the kdp fix a good time to time the pump? and does any one have a link on the procedure for the timing?

The KDP is an easy fix,

the only thing that will be facilitated is removal of the pump as a whole, you do not have to remove it, nor do you need the timing cover off to time the truck.. I would suggest Kill that KDP first, and get everything right, Use the kit from TST.. here is my writeup on it...

Timing the IP is sort of like a calculus problem in comparion to a basic equation which is what i think the KDP is like. The following is the best explanation on how to time the IP on ur truck

thanks for the link, and I do have the tst kit for killing the dowel pin,I was curious about the timing because their seems to be quite a few people who reset there's

It's an excellent idea to set the timing while you're tabbing the KDP. You can remove the pump gear completely and get it and the pump shaft spotless. Much less chance of having oil or dirt between the two causing your timing to slip.

I agree with Berner
Ive done it both ways and I think it was eazier with the cover off, that said I wouldnt go thru the work of pulling the cover every time but if it was comming off anyway I would do the timing prior to buttoning it up.
