I have a 1997 3500 4X2 cab/chassis. I just turned 478,000. I have an oil leak from front of engine and everything underneath is coated in oil. I loose about 2 quarts in 5,000 miles. I am concerned about the KDP possibility. Can anyone recommend anyone in Central or Southern Indiana that would check this out without taking me for a ride? There is no way I could tackle this myself as I do well to change my own oil : ). Any idea of cost to check it out and fix it?? Still runs great and does not make any unusual noises.

If your KDP did do its dirty work , I saw a timing chain case on e-bay 2 days ago .

 

I'm in SW Illinois. If you need help, I can walk you through it. It's a PITA, but it's not REEEAAALLL bad. Sounds like you busted the gear case... just cross you fingers that it didn't eat any gears in there.
