KDP diagram

I once saw a diagram to make the KDP tab but I cant find it. I want to make my tab at work so I can have an easy istall at home. Anyone have a clue where I can find it?

and they also have a special puller to remove the cam gear so the cam doesn't have to come out when replacing a cracked case and a service bulletin describing the full repair.

I did not know that.... I could not even get a tab from Cummins, they said they had no listing and never heard of the problem...

Yes and of course they did not know there was a problem but the same Cummins dealer staked the cover when installing the shortblock a couple of years earlier.

when reinstalling, what is the recommended advice? Purchase a new cover gasket, try to use the existing gasket, or just use RTV gasket maker? Thanks

The 12 valve engines use a gasket, the 24 do not.

I did mine today and only replaced the front seal. The timing cover gasket was good but I put a thin bead of RTV on it just for safetys sake. Easy repair, now I can drive worry free. The dowel pin had moved about 1/16th out so not even close to falling out. I made my tab out of a piece of .063" stainless steel.
